Housing sector update from CHFBC
Each For All producer, Robin Puga, spoke with Thom Armstrong, CEO of the Co-op Housing Federation of BC on the recent BC provincial budget announcement.
Thom shared his perspective on what the province is getting right (expansion of critical supports for people experiencing homelessness and some expedited spending for the community housing fund) and what’s missing from the provincial budget. As well, we’ll heard about the bold new campaign from the Co-op Housing Federation of Canada to motivate the Federal government to reinvigorate its investment in the next generation of co-op housing in Canada.
As usual, we also got an update from Thom on what’s happening at the local level in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland with affordable housing and co-op housing initiative. The Community Land Trust continues its success and the continuing challenges for housing co-ops on city-leased lands.
