February Co-op Cafe

The Co-op Cafe is your chance to get to know the co-op community, workshop problems and ideas, discuss current events through the co-op lens, and jam on ideas for how we can nurture co-op culture in Metro Vancouver and beyond. Everyone is welcome! In particular, we invite anyone exploring a new business venture and interested in learning more about the co-operative model.

The easiest way to deal with co-op housing membership terminations is to implement strategies that help to avoid them! That’s where this workshop will start. However there are times when your co-op board has to terminate a membership for the well-being of the co-op and the other members.

CHF BC Webinar: Ten Things to Look for in Your Financial Statements

Most directors don’t have training in bookkeeping or accounting, and it’s not easy to get much out of those statements if you’re not sure what to look for. That can be a problem, because the financial statement is the single most important indicator of your co-op’s financial health. We’ll help the non-expert get more from co-op financial statements without going back to school. And we’ll learn about ten key things to watch for when reviewing your co-op’s finances.

CASC Student Case Study Competition Application Deadline

The Centre for the Study of Co-operatives, University of Saskatchewan, and the Canadian Association for Studies in Co-operation (CASC) are sponsoring a student case study competition. The competition is designed to test students’ ability to apply concepts from the classroom to real world issues and will allow them to showcase their problem-solving capabilities using the case-study method.
