Create your 2019 - Hacking New Years' Resolutions

City of Vancouver Leasehold Co-op Meeting – 1

Date: Tuesday January 29, 2019 7pm

Location: CHF BC offices on Commercial Drive

The City approved a lease renewal framework in February 2017, but no co-op has been able to come to an agreement with the City since then under that framework. It’s time for a reset! CHF BC is inviting the co-ops that have leases with the City to attend meetings to review the current situation and re-calibrate our positions over multiple meetings. Invited co-ops for this meeting are: Access, Amicae, Cedar Mill, Creekview, Dunbar Village, Eight Oaks, Four Sisters, Grace MacInnis, Helen’s Court, Heritage, La Petite Maison, Maple Creek, Marina, Marpole Terrace, Northern Way, Pacific Heights, Paloma, Penta, Rising Star and Vera. The longer-term lease co-ops will meet on February 11. Please register at the website.

January Co-op Cafe

Date: Wednesday January 30, 2019, 8am - 9:30am

Location: To be confirmed: Lost and Found Cafe @ 33 West Hastings Street, Vancouver

The Co-op Cafe is your chance to get to know the co-op community, workshop problems and ideas, discuss current events through the co-op lens, and jam on ideas for how we can nurture co-op culture in Metro Vancouver and beyond. Everyone is welcome! In particular, we invite anyone exploring a new business venture and interested in learning more about the co-operative model.

CASC Student Case Study Competition Application Deadline

The Centre for the Study of Co-operatives, University of Saskatchewan, and the Canadian Association for Studies in Co-operation (CASC) are sponsoring a student case study competition. The competition is designed to test students’ ability to apply concepts from the classroom to real world issues and will allow them to showcase their problem-solving capabilities using the case-study method.

CASC Scholarship Application Deadline

Co-operatives and Mutuals Canada (CMC) is calling for applications for the three CASC scholarships administered by CMC. In addition to the monetary awards, winners of all three scholarships will be awarded a free one-year membership in the Canadian Association for Studies in Co-operation (CASC) as well as free registration at the 2019 CASC conference.
