BC is set to Make Housing Central in municipal election

Thom Armstrong, Executive Director of the Co-op Housing Federation of BC

Thom Armstrong, CEO of CFHBC

Thom Armstrong, CEO of the Co-op Housing Federation of BC, speaks on the number 1 issue on voter’s minds as they step into the ballot boxes for the municipal elections – Affordable Housing.

One way to temper our speculative housing market is to take some housing out of the market by creating non-profit housing and housing co-operatives. Thom and his colleges at the Co-op Housing Federation of BC, BC Non-Profit Housing Association, and Aboriginal Housing Management Association have been working tirelessly on this strategy for decades. And we now have a new tool to better understand how successful our communities have been in this effort. Their new website makehousingcentral.ca uses census and other data to create an interactive data visualization tool that showcases affordable housing performance for 100s of communities in BC.

Let’s hear from Thom on how this new tool sheds light on the successes and failures of those elected to office in our BC Communities.

Thank you for listening. Please vote this week!
