Freedom Dream Co-operative Education shares knowledge about co-operatives and the solidarity economy from a Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC) perspective. Through a series of online and place-based workshops, Freedom Dreams hopes to empower participants with knowledge about the histories and experiences of co-operation among the BIPOC diaspora so that they can see themselves reflected in the co-op movement, especially in the fight for social justice. In addition, facilitators share stories of why they got involved in the co-op movement and how others can create BIPOC-led co-ops.
Founder Christine Clarke says Freedom Dreams is looking for collaborators to co-facilitate workshops with the ultimate goal that the program itself becomes a worker-owned educational co-operative. She says BIPOC co-ops have a rich history of bringing people together especially as a necessary means of resistance and survival. Have a listen.
