About this episode

On April 15/22, news broke that Vancouver’s  East End Food Co-op (EEFC) will be closing its Commercial Drive storefront on May 15 after 50 years of serving the community. The co-op itself will remain in place for the time being. Its future will be discussed at the AGM in June.

You can show your support by continuing to shop at the co-op until closing day.  Look for lots of specials and sales in the weeks ahead. And a commemoration event is also being planned.

If you have any ideas or want to help create a worker co-op or new entity entirely, please contact general manager Gus Abato at gusabato@gmail.com.

Each For All contacted Chris Galloway, President of the EEFC Board of Directors, and asked what factors contributed to the very difficult decision to close the store?
