The federal election campaign is in full swing and parties are sharing their platforms, attack ads and Twitter take downs. Promises are flying left and right. Can Canadians really believe what politicians say? Do words and actions match up? Are voters engaged or fed up?
Ahead of voting day on October 21, Each For All is exploring the idea of “doing politics differently:” co-operatively, collaboratively, across party lines and using the energy that goes into partisan battles to instead, fight climate change, the opioid crisis, homelessness, poverty and other urgent issues.
Our first segment (Sep. 10) featured an interview with Jody Wilson-Raybould, the Independent MP for Vancouver Granville. On this program, you’ll hear from Jane Philpott, the Independent MP for Markham-Stouffville in Ontario. We also speak with Shauna Sylvester, Executive Director of SFU’s Centre for Dialogue who reports that Canadians want in on their democracy but are frustrated with the way it works now.
